Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - ACLS
Course Description:
The ACLS course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of patients in the in-hospital and out-of-hospital environments. This course will enhance the skills involved in the treatment of patients in peri-arrest conditions and cardiopulmonary arrest. Topics in this course include the identification and treatment of ischemic chest pain, stroke/CVA recognition and emergency management, basic life support primary survey, ACLS secondary survey, ACLS algorithms, and effective resuscitation team dynamics.
Course Length:
- Initial Course – 16 hours
- Renewal Course – 8 hours

- Physicians
- Physician Assistants
- Nurse Practitioners
- Registered Nurses
- Paramedics
- Respiratory Therapists
- Other healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support activities
Prerequisites:
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers course completion card (or equivalent)
- Current or recently expired (within 30 days) ACLS Provider card (Renewal Course Only)
- Knowledge of emergency pharmacology
- Ability to identify ECG rhythms
Requirements for Course Completion:
- Actively participate in and complete all skill and learning stations
- Pass skills test in Adult 1-Rescuer CPR and AED
- Obtain a score of 84% or higher on the written test
- Pass the Megacode testing station
