As Business Development Manager for Rural/Metro’s Alabama base of operations, Mr. Messer oversees the Company’s business and marketing efforts throughout the market, with attention also focused in the areas of billing and compliance matters. Prior to joining Rural/Metro, Mr. Messer spent many years working to assist ambulance start-up companies throughout the Southeast. He is a member of the Society of Healthcare Marketers, Homewood Chamber of Commerce, Bessemer Chamber of Commerce, Tennessee Hospital Association, Alabama Nursing Home Association, Arthritis Association Stroke Support Groups, and serves on the Board of the local chapter of the American Heart Association. Mr. Messer received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Jacksonville State University.

As Market General Manager for Rural/Metro’s emergency medical services in Jefferson County, Mr. King oversees all aspects of daily operations. Mr. King joined Rural/Metro in 1999 as Marketing Manager and has helped grow the Company to become the largest ambulance provider in Jefferson County. Prior to joining Rural/Metro, he served as Marketing Manager for American Medical Response in Jefferson County. Mr. King’s career in EMS began in 1976 as an Emergency Medical Technician with Hank’s Ambulance in Jefferson County prior to its sale in 1993. His civic duties include service on the Board of Directors of the Bessemer Chamber of Commerce, member and Chairman of the Drug Awareness Committee for Bessemer Elks Lodge 721. He received a Rural/Metro Corporation President’s Award in 2010 for his commitment to the organization. Mr. King graduated from Bessemer State College in 1979 as an EMT-Basic.

As Market General Manager for Rural/Metro’s EMS services in Etowah and St. Clair counties, Mr. Lonnergan oversees all aspects of daily operations and future market growth. Mr. Lonnergan’s career in the EMS industry includes experience as a 911 Dispatcher, Emergency Medical Technician-Basic and Intermediate, Paramedic, Operations Supervisor, Operations Manager and Market General Manager. He is an accredited Paramedic with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Mr. Lonnergan’s civic duties include service as a member of the Board of Directors for the East Alabama EMS State Regional Office and the Gadsden/Etowah Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Gadsden Rotary Club and recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award from Rotary International. He was named EMS Service Manager of the Year in 2011 by the East Alabama EMS State Regional Office. Under Mr. Lonnergan’s leadership, Rural/Metro has been voted first place “Readers Choice Award” for the past seven consecutive years for Best Ambulance Service in the market.

In her role as Operations Supervisor for Rural/Metro’s Gadsden EMS operations, Ms. Gorham assists the Market General Manager in all aspects of daily ambulance operations. She was promoted to Operations Manager in 2005 after having served as a Paramedic and Paramedic Shift Supervisor for Rural/Metro during her 15-year career in EMS. Ms. Gorham is a volunteer for the Gadsden Etowah Chamber of Commerce, the Alabama Yellow Dot Program, the Gadsden Area VOAD and Glencoe Fire & Rescue. She is a 1996 Deans List graduate of the Gadsden State Community College EMS program.
