Ambulance Services

Rob Webb

Rural/Metro continues to provide top quality fire and ambulance service to our neighbors in Knox, Blount, Loudon, McMinn, Franklin and Polk counties, meeting or exceeding our compliance goals and expanding into new areas of need.

Community involvement continues to be a priority at Rural/Metro. We are involved in many community events through sponsorships and service. Rural/Metro is the on-call emergency service provider for local high school football games and has sponsored the High School Athlete of the Week this year. From our work on the statewide teen driving awareness campaign “Real Life 24” to our annual Fire Safety Fall Festival our goal is to help keep our neighbors safe.

Our team has grown, both in size and capability. We now have more than 815 employees in 14 facilities averaging more than 10 response calls per hour -- 24/7. We have added new thermal imaging cameras to help our firefighters save lives while navigating through smoke and darkness. We have also added specialized non-emergency transport vehicles and staffing to our fleet to provide a complete range of transport and life-saving services for our customers.

And now, through my recent appointment to the Tennessee Emergency Medical Services Board, I will have an opportunity to introduce our East Tennessee best practices statewide.

I am proud to serve the community with such a dedicated and committed group of professionals and look forward to Rural/Metro’s continued growth and service in East Tennessee.

- Rob Webb, Rural/Metro Division General Manager

The economies of scale that come from being one of the nation's largest ambulance services provide us with an unparalleled ability to remain an economical choice for our customers in East Tennessee. Rural/Metro's certified paramedics and emergency medical technicians arrive on the scene with the skills and expertise to rapidly administer care, coordinate with on-scene first responders, communicate with emergency department physicians and transport patients to the most appropriate facilities.

Our non-emergency ambulance services are also easy to access, with patient transport coordinators available 24 hours a day to arrange the most appropriate level of ambulance transportation for each patient. By providing a variety of transportation options, we add value for our healthcare facility partners.
