Rural/Metro Ambulance Invites Community to 'Safety Sunday' Events
ORLANDO (Nov. 8, 2011) – Rural/Metro Ambulance invites the public to attend Safety Sunday festivities on Nov. 20 at Demetree Park and Dec. 4 at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in Orlando. The events will run from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. and will include free snacks and hot dogs cooked by Rural/Metro employees, entertainment, tours of ambulances and tips on how to make your own, inexpensive first-aid kit and the latest guidelines for CPR.
Safety Sundays also will provide the public a chance to talk to their city commissioners. District 2 Commissioner Tony Ortiz will attend the Nov. 20 festivities at Demetree Park, located at 650 Santiago Ave. District 6 Commissioner Samuel B. Ings will attend the Dec. 4 event at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake, located at 3401 S. Hiawassee Road.
Safety education opportunities available throughout both events include:
- Hands-only CPR –learn the latest guidelines recommended by the American Heart Association.
- First-aid – learn how to make an inexpensive kit from household items.
“Rural/Metro Ambulance believes that one of the best ways we can serve the community is to help prevent accidents by educating people about safety,” said Christopher Blach, division general manager.
Rural/Metro’s experienced team of paramedics and EMTs currently serve throughout Central Florida, including Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties as well as the cities of Orlando, Eatonville, Windermere, Winter Garden and Ocoee.
