Rural/Metro Ambulance is “Proud to Wear Pink” to fight breast cancer
EMS in Memphis and Shelby County is turning pink to support the fight against breast cancer. All Rural/Metro employees in Memphis, Shelby and Tipton County are wearing pink every weekend in October in support of breast cancer awareness and a fight for the cure.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, next to skin cancer, with about 1.3 million people diagnosed annually. It’s a disease touching Rural/Metro employees through the patients they see, friends, family members, co-workers or those who are survivors themselves.
“We have an opportunity to care for breast cancer patients during treatments and their recovery” says Division General Manager Glenn Miller. “These patients are putting up a fight to recover and caring for them is how we can help them battle against this disease. Wearing pink not only allows us to help raise awareness, but it’s a way for us to wear our support for our patients in their fight.”
All proceeds from the sale of the “Proud to Wear Pink” shirts will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Rural/Metro has been proud partner providing EMS services for the Susan G. Komen MidSouth Race for a Cure for the last decade.
Rural/Metro Ambulance is proud to provide 911 services to the citizens of Arlington, Collierville, Germantown, Lakeland, Millington, and the unincorporated areas of Shelby County.
