Tennessee License Renewal Information
- EMT-IV: 2.0 CEU (20 hours)
- EMT-P: 3.0 CEU (30 hours)
CEUs must be EMS related and within your scope of practice (i.e. EMT-IVs cannot use ACLS). College courses may be used if EMS related (EMT-IV may use Paramedic school as CEUs) and are calculated as 1 semester hour = 1.0 CEU. Only 1.0 CEU may be used for rescue and driving classes. DDP refreshers may use 0.4 CEU. TEMA, FEMA, and NFA classes may be used at full value as long as 50% of course is medical; otherwise, only 1.0 CEU may be used. EMD courses may be used for 1.0 CEU. Instructors may use 0.1 CEU for every 10 hours of instruction (this includes teaching CPR). Instructor courses may not be used for CEUs. Magazine/Journal articles cannot be used. You may use up to 1.0 CEU from online sources as long as the course is CECBEMS accredited. NREMT is NOT required for TN licensure.
